This slippers disappeared for a while and I just assumed that she had disposed of them. She admits that when she is done with a pair of shoes...she can't bring her self to throw them away away unless they are completely used up so she (in her own words) "sacrifices them". She wears them one last time doing something that she knows and hopes will ruin or destroy them. Sadly she has this nasty habit of wearing her house slippers out digging in the garden. She has an old pair of fake keds that she usually wears for that but when a pair of slippers is so nasty that she wants them gone... they go out to the garden where they are soaked, muddy and sometimes ripped and then tossed in the trash outside...
Anyway that is what I assumed had happened to these but one day they turned up on her feet. Turns out she'd had them under her desk at work for those nights when she worked late. So to my delight they are back and on a few occasions when the opportunity presented it's self... I let them know how happy I was to see them.... squirt squirt. Well sadly their peace was not meant to.last.
On a cold and wet December afternoon she and I were going to see her mother. Before leaving, she put on a sweater and a coat, grabbed her keys and her purse but the one thing she said not do was change shoes. This was no accident... they had a very bad day that day. They were worn through dirt and light mud as well as puddles...lots of puddles. When we got to her mom's I could hear the squish squish of her slippers as she walked.
I'm not sure what became of these slippers. I would see them around the house from time to time but I never saw her wear them again. I'm don't even know exactly when the disappeared.

I love how your friend will intentionally destroy a pair of shoes before she throws them away. I'd love to see a girl wear slippers/flats while working in the garden, absolutely destroying them, then carelessly toss them in the trash. Do you have any pics of your friend wearing slippers while working in the garden?

I wish more than anything that did but I've never been there when she was gardening.

I think it's from being a mom. When you have kids, money is tight so buy cheap shoes/slippers and get as much use out of them as you can. Her kids have moved out but she still buys cheap shoes and has never thrown away a pair that wasn't completely trashed. She wears ALL of her shoes to death. It just sucks that I've never been there to capture it on camera.
