While it would certainly be easiest for me to copy and paste a link directly, I was once advised that sites hosting photos or vids can take exception to such a direct link being used. Changing to hxxp means it is not "hotlinked" so is less likely to be blocked or removed.
Given some links I shared here were almost immediately removed by the host site after a member decided to re-post as http, that advice still seems to hold true.
I hope having to change hxxp to http is seen as a small price to pay for making links last as long as possible, allowing more members the chance to see and enjoy.
