I've gotten lucky by asking colleagues if they need shoes repaired and if I could borrow them to show my partner.

Just be honest and upfront with her and don't try and hide/pretend. Who knows, she may be pretty adventurous.

If she’s friendly then compliment her on the things she wears. Is she tall or short? That’s easy to bring into a conversation & then you can ask is she wears heels much when she goes out?! If so how tall....it they are high then you can say I don’t know how you ladies walk or dance in high heels! Ask how high, got any picks or wear them in?!
Women love talking about their heels
