Regarding your comment about how far you can go, in my experience, enjoyment and depth of penetration are affected by shape, size and texture and of course particularly by state of arousal.

Best to choose shoes without much decoration, cut outs are ok and a strap can add stimulation but some decorations while adding greatly to visual appeal but anything sharp can be a pain as can too big and too deep. Yeah... I had downloaded that video years ago from a link I got on this forum (or similar one), but it's been taken down, and I haven't been able to locate it anywhere else on the Internet.
