I agree with almost everything in your post, I too have loved ladies leather coats for as long as I can remember, though I honestly don't know how it started. My Mum or sisters never had a leather coat, or anyone else I can remember from my formative years.

I like the look of your new coat, it definitely looks like high quality, soft leather. Each to his own of course, but I prefer coats which can be buttoned up, especially ones with leather covered buttons. Likewise I'm not as keen on zipped coats.
The bags/purses don't do anything for me I'm afraid.
