Dumb ass question

why do people put "hxxp" instead of the really easy to use "http" ?? in links?
There HAS to be a reason but I am fucked if I can figure it.

I have added an add on (in Firefox) called "quieturl". Its cool.
It allows you to click on badly presented urls ie http//: or hxxp.. etc and it opens it as if its a correct url !
You can go in and set the parameters it will "correct" and comes ready with hxxp inserted

I just tried it and it works a treat
no more playing silly buggers!!!!!!
