There were other brands of canvas rubber soled sneakers produced by rubber oriented companies. Dunlop was a dominant sneaker brand for example but sold off its sneaker interests to buyers who had to re-brand (eg Dunlop Volley in Australia rebranded to Volley). But there generally seemed to be a big divide between canvas sneakers and conventional leather shoes. This divide has very much broken down in recent decades.

Yeah, good call on Dunlops! We rarely saw Dunlop sneakers here in Canada. I have a good collection of Dunlop Wellies as they're extremely popular in Oilfield work and for the cold weather in our muddy or frozen wasteland.
